Does anybody know if Web Transaction Server can be used somehow (J2EE??) to generate XML in the same way that Business Connector does?
I'd appreciate it if anyone could give me some detail or point me to a resource,

if you mean Internet Transaction Server (ITS):
nope, this is just a frontend where one can write JSP, PHP or HTML Pages to ineract with the real SAP system (interacts by RFC).
if you mean Web Application Server etc:
this (better: part of it) will replace the BC, as far as I understand it, but we have not migrated yet, so no comment _how_ it works.
The ITS (as a web interface) is a pain, at least compared to what the Web Application Server is promising :-/
