What is SEM Copy functionality

Question: Hi Fans,
Can anybody explain what is SEM copy functionality and how do we do it?
Let's assume there is one Basic cube and there is some data in it and a transaction cube is created by using the "Copy from" and transactional switch activated, then a transactional cube got created. Now, how do I copy the data from basic to the transactional using SEM Copy functionality.
THanks

Answer:
Hi Gary,

You will need to create two planning areas (one for each cube), then a multi area containing both planning areas.

Now you can use the copy functions in BPS to copy the data from one cube to the other.

I hope it helps,
Nelson

Answer:
Thanks Nelson,
Does that mean that we have to have two transactional cubes and one will be just used to have data from R/3 and always the "Date can be loaded" switch on and the other one similar to this cube but "Date can be Plannined" option set? Is that right?
Thanks

Answer:
Gary,

From what you have described, you are talking about the BW load method into the SEM transaction cube. By using an export datasource, you can load the data from BW into SEM when the SEM transaction cube is switched to BW load or "Transaction Cube can be loaded with data: cannot be planned."

The SEM copy planning function can copy from one planning area (or cube) to another. One thing to keep in mind that about 250K records may take up to an hour and if number of records are too high, the copy may fail.
