Question:
Hi,
Has anybody been using Data Slices ? I am quite aware of how they work but want to see whether these can be made dynamic i.e. driven off a variable.
Also it seems to work opposite of how it is defined in R/3 eg. closing periods in FI.

Hi AWT,
I am not sure but i dont think data slices can be variable driven as we are restricting them at Planning area.

Hi atw,
We are using the data slices to block records, according to its definition. For example to block certain planning version and additional detail if needed (months, certain organizational level, etc). So it is the opposite concept from the fiscal periods (where you say the ones that are opened).
It is working as we expected...until now.
To my knowledge, there is no possibility of making it dinamicaly - but i guess that the goal here is to make it "hard coded" and make sure it stays blocked...
After creation, you can activate and deactivate the data slice as needed.

As of support pack SAPKGS3211, you can use variables in data slices.
