Does anybody know SAP _ Event Management (EM) ?

Question: Hi,

Have you ever worked with this sub.mondule? How value-added could be for a beverage industry?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Answer:
Hi,
I have just registered to answer your question. I have worked in the EM area for almost 6 years now and it is very difficult to answer your question.

In EM, milestones are defined for your business process/tracked objects (like i.e. Truck loaded or Goods delivered) and it compares the expected date/time when something should have happened against the actual date/time. If there is a deviation or if no actual date/time was reported within a specific time window or if something unexpected happens (machine breakdown in production, accident of truck), rules can trigger actions in your systems (notification of your transportation planner, customer service rep, etc.).
This could lead to improved customer service and reduced costs.
But this all depends on which objects you would like to track and which processes, which parties are involved (suppliers, carriers, customers), if you would like to display parts of the information on the internet and receive data through a portal to update your system, etc.

In general, EM provides you with a high visibility of your whole supply chain and enables Real-time monitoring of the tracked objects you defined (i.e. documents like shipments, sales orders, or physical objects like your products or handling units like pallets, boxes or assets like trucks, containers, etc.) for all kinds of processes (Manufacturing, Warehousing, Transportation, Billing, etc.). Therefore, it could definitely be worth considering it in the beverage industry.
If you need any more information, just contact me.

Dirk
