APO IDES

Question: Hi Gurus,

My latest assignment is to install a APO Ides. As my understanding, there is no Ides for APO, unless install an APO then connect the R3 Ides. Is it true? One of my friend told me, if I wanna use R3 Ides for APO, I have to install a PI(?). What is PI?

Could anyone kindly help me out for this issue? Thanks a lot in advance!

Answer:
Hi

I dont know about APO IDES.
PI or CIF (Core Interface) has to be installed on R/3 side.
After this you have to maintain a RFC connection to the APO
system to transmit master data and transactional data.

There are different versions of PI related to R/3 version and
service pack level.

Answer:
Dear Mr. Klaus,
Thank you very much for your kind explaination!

Here is another question for you: how to install the relevant PI? Just like apply the R3 patch? Where can I get the PI? Is it in the SAP CD package?

Thanks a lot!

Answer:
Hi there

installation of PI is a question that should be posted in the Basis forum of
sapfans. I am not a basis man so I think SAINT / patch manager is used.

It is a standard interface that is also used for EBP system e.g. so it is not just an APO question.

Hope that helps

Klaus

Answer:
Dear Mr. Klaus,

You are so kind!

Now I know how to install PI. However, there is still one question for you if you don't mind:

after install PI, except set APO connection with R3 in SM59, is there any other tasks should be done in order to transfer the master&application data from R3 to APO? If so, how?

Could you kindly keep on throwing light to it for me? Many thanks!!

Answer:
Dear Mr. Guest

it is strongly recommended to study SAP's online documentation for the first steps with their software.

Maintenance of master and transactional data is strongly constrained to business process requirements, which can't be discussed in a whole in such a forum.

With very kind regards

Klaus

Answer:
Dear Mr. Klaus
