I am trying to upload Items master data thru flexible upload.
My header row is blank. My data row consists of (1)Hierarchy Level, (2)Break-down category, (3) Item type (4) Dr/Cr sign (5)Item (6) Short Descrip (7) Long Descrip. My master data is also organised in the same structure and available in TAB file.
I am getting plenty of error messages. Main Error msg is Item is not valid value for. My Item is 5 digit number (example: 10000 Total Assets). It seems to be reading the hierarchy level master data as Dr/Cr sign value, while Dr/Cr sign value is read as Br down cat. It also gives Warning msgs that hierarchy node values such as 10000 (Total Assets), 20000 (Total Liabilities & Owners' funds), etc are cut off after 1 character.
From the error msgs, I concluded that my organizing of master data upload file is incorrect. I have been organizing the master data file in permutation and combination and still it is not working, with the error msg Item is not valid value for.
Can you pls advise me how the master data file has to be organized? Is there any other info objects needed? Have I include any info object in the header row? etc.

I think you are fully confused.
You can upload the CS item data thru flex load , manual update and thru info object also.

I am aware of other ways to enter the master data. My problem is the master data is large and cannot be entered manually one-by-one. I have been left with only one option, that is to enter the large master data thru flexible upload.
Any suggestions welcome.

FYI, when you are loading master data it should be from the Cons Workbench and not the monitor. Are you following this approach? If so, then it appears that the method is not consistent with the file layout. Otherwise, try executing from the workbench.

I tried uploading thru consolidation workbench- flexible upload-master data items, not thru monitor at any point of time. Any way, I have manually entered the items since they are few in number.

Try to load the 0CS_ITEM as a BW object, since everytime a master data is updated in OACCOUNT, OGL_ACCOUNT it has to update the 0CS_ITEM when it is relevant.
Since we updated master date each day , before transaction is loaded 0CS_ITEM has to be each time.
if it is to be loaded thru flex load... then ensure that it is loaded everyday, before loading the transaction data.
