Question:
Using the Movement Types for certain balance sheet Items, we would like
to separately identify the effect of exchange rates with respect to the
currency translation in BCS. Are there documented guidelines for
accomplishing this? It seems that in both BCS and EC-CS there are
standard Movement Types (or Transaction Types) for this purpose.
For example, if the local currency balance is €1,000 and this is
translated to USD at the month end rate of .840 to $840. The reference
rate is also the month end rate type. The next period the local balance
does not change, but the exchange rate is now .850, the change is $10.
We would like to have this change in group currency balance identified
with a specific Movement Type.
Any help or guidance with this is greatly appreciated.
Answer:
Hi Dans,
Not sure whether I understand your question. But when you post the difference you can post it to a specific movement type. This is where you define the accounts where the difference is posted .. you can additionally specify the movement type where the posting should happen.
