Question:
Hai Experts,
I have been working in SAP BW for a while and now thinking of learning SCM to add value to my career. I researched a little on solutions like SCM, CRM, SEM and finally decided on SCM. I see that APO, MM, SD, PP are part of SCM. I am good at BW but new to everything else. Can somebody guide me how to approach this in right way? Do I need to start learning MM, SD, APO all differently and then learn SCM finally or cna I go for SCM directly. I know its not so easy but I love SCM eventhouh its hard one because thats where I believe the future is.
I appreciate any suggestions, reference to documents and also any good sources of learning SCM(including institutes, I know that its not the right place to ask for institutes please forgive me).
Thank you.
Answer:
If you are a BW expert, then the obvious part of SCM to look at would be the Demand Planning aspect of APO. This is based on BW technologies and toolkit, so if you are used to infocubes and info-objects etc you are halfway to knowing DP already
Answer:
Thank you Parksy. So, I need to learn APO first and then how about the other parts in SCM like MM, SD etc. Do I need to learn more about them individually before getting to actual SCM?
Thank you.
Answer:
Hi Visu,
The most important thing to learn SCM is your functional domain experience . Without that it is very hard to understand the business scenarios & you will not able to resolve customer issues . I dont know your functional background experience . Iam not telling this to discourage you
Since you have BW experience , I dont understand the need for changing to SCM since BW is already in great demand
Good luck......
Kris
Answer:
Hi Visu,
With your experience, SAP - APO Demand Planing is better to start.
