Question:
Hi!
Our client is trying to save licensing fees by using collaborative demand planning. Users (account managers) will be using internet to enter demand forecast.
They will be using a generic user (webuser) and then have multiple key figures for each group of users to enter data.
Will it work?
Answer:
The generic user in production is probably a violation of your contract. You would need to check to make sure.
If not, you can do this. However, the collaborative functionality of the web is nowhere near the functionality of the GUI. You can only drill down on one characteristic at a time and you can get some funny results if you have characteristics with multiple IDs that share the same description.
We tried to roll out the web to users a few years ago to avoid GUI upgrade problems for remote/traveling users, but were forced back to the GUI for usability issues.
It can work, but you do pay a significant price in terms of usability.
Answer:
APO User thanks a lot for sharing the info.
