Question:
I have built a planning application that currently uses Excel in place but I need to start this manual planning application from SAPgui.
But our users want to use Excel planning without logging into SAPgui just like running BW reports without logging into SAPGui using Bex. Please advise how I can use Excel based planning without having to get the planning workbench to run manual planning.
Also, how can I publish this manual planning application to the web and how to access this web based planning app.
Thanks
Charlotte
Answer:
If I understand you correctly you want to use Excel as a client. What you need then is an add-in. I looked at this as a possibility to use for sales planning but did not like the interface. Below is however an instruction I found from SAP:
To use Microsoft Excel locally in this way, you must activate in your Microsoft Excel the Add-In delivered with the GUI installation. This preparation only needs to be performed once. To do this, proceed as follows:
1. Make sure that the SEM AddOn for the SAP GUI is installed on your computer.
2. In Excel, choose Tools -> Add-Ins > Browse and open the SAPSalesplanning.xla file, which was stored in the SAPpc\SEM folder when the SEM-AddOn was installed.
3. The entry SAPSalesplanning now appears in the Add-In list.
4. Select the Add-In SAPSalesplanning.
When you subsequently start Microsoft Excel, you are asked whether you want to use the planning functions. If you do, you can log onto the SEM System and perform your planning online.
Your second question I do not understand. If the users want Excel locally as an interface they wouldn´t want it on the web? If they want the excel-look give the a web-excel interface.
