Using variables in SEM

Question: This topic has been already entered by other users previously, but unfortunately I could not find any clear answer yet:
Is it possible in SEM (BPS) to create a variable where the user can freely enter his selection conditions, instead of having to select from predefined fixed ranges?
The user would for example like to select ad-hoc only certain products in order to view or change specific plan data...Or for example be able to enter a free percentage value increase on last year's actuals...

Answer:
Sorry but SEM is still very primitive - the user input is a single value or a range. Only one - ie the user can not select multiple single values.
(SEM 3.1b) - will check 3.2 when back at work (on SEM course today!)

Answer:
If you use variable of replacement type User specific values and check the box for input allowed by user.

Hope that helps,
Mary

Answer:
Thanks a lot for the replies. In the meantime I have discovered that you can do so, but only while working on non-transactional cubes, but not on multi-area cubes.
