Comparison of Microsoft BizTalk to SAP XI & SAP BC

Question: We are evaluating seriously between Microsoft BizTalk & SAP XI+SAP BC.
To be honest so far we are not happy with SAP BC it is such a poor tool hardly any management tools and deployment of SAP BC is not easy as well the pilot usage showed us lots of problems on how unreliable SAP BC is.

We have been very happy with Microsoft BizTalk so far can any of you please throw light on the advantages of using SAP BC and SAP XI over BizTalk.

Thanks
Clinton

Answer:
SAP BC is middleware and it's being phased out, read this:

or here:

A better product that is not middleware, it's actually all in ABAP and resides in SAP (just a transport), is the VTI (Virtual Terminal Interface) by AMProfessionals. It saves cost on liscence fees, and is certified by SAP. It runs on all platforms too. Check out their website here:

Answer:
If you are looking for middleware to integrate your SAP systems to any 3rd party application, you should try SAP XI. Unlike BC it is a complete EAI tool including good monitoring and error handling functions (also SAP CCMS Monitoring Integration possible).
As from my project experience it is a very good system running stable and facilitating all integration issues.

If you want to know more about XI, search this forum. There have been some threads about the XI basics.

That is not entirely true for 2 reasons.

First, Yes it is being phased out but BC uses BAPI's which SAP stands behind. Therefore any application you write will still be able to access any future or current bapi.

Secondly, It is being phased out in preference to the SAP.Net connector. Whcich will allow you to do the same thing, but the technology is better.

Answer:
This is a classic story where SAP people want to be blind for
everything but SAP to keep their jobs. We read a interesting report
from Gartner and Gartner is saying SAP XI/Net Weaver is a very risky
deployment most things in NetWeaver/XI is work in progress. Gartner
recommends companies to look at IBM , Microsoft or Tibco period. If
you have a tonne of money to burn go Net Weaver SAP are more than
happy to experiment on you. I would look at Microsoft BizTalk and
Oracle Message broker as they are cost effective Tibco is very good
not sure of the price.
