Double check that you've applied the necessary notes. The note # 509773. Also double check your java version. We had a similar issue that you had and it boiled down to McAfee. The firewall may be turned off however, it is still "on". Does the machine have McAfee installed - particularly the Personal Firewall? Take a look under the Personal Firewall option and you'll see a selection "View the Internet Application List". McAfee in all its wisdom "blocks" applications (exe files) that it deems vulerably - particularly SQL Server. You do have the option of unblocking - once we did that, IPC worked as expected.
