Link from SAP to a Lotus Notes database (specific document)?

Question: Hi y'all

Beside our 4.6C R/3 system we have a number of Lotus Notes databases, which we would like to use more in connection to R/3. But how is this done?

An example could be in the PM module, where we would like to link from a specific PM work order to a "safety instruction" which we have in the form of a specific document in a Lotus Notes database. Technically I hope that it is possible to add a kind of icon with a "hidden path", which the user can double-click and then
- Lotus Notes is lauched,
- the appropriate Notes database is opened, and
- the specific document in the database is displayed.

Another example could be an added icon from/on the material master, where the "hidden path" contains the material master number, and this is used in opening the Lotus Notes database to choose the appropriate document and displaying it.

That is our vision. Can it be done in real life ?

Thank you very much in advance, best regards from

Answer:
Hi guys

We might choose to web-enable the relevant Notes databases - and then solve the problem by adding a web-link under "attachments" in the transaction in SAP. The user can then click on this link, and thereby launch a brower window with the appropriate document.

Are there really noone who has done this before? I would think there were since it cannot be that uncommon to use Notes for document management.

Thanks in advance.
